Try to practice these relaxation techniques at least once per day – and you will improve your life balance.  You will also find that you are better able to deal with stress, and you will be more focused and productive in all aspects of your life!

Create a Spa Sanctuary at Home
Water is known for its therapeutic, relaxing and renewing properties.  Turn your bathroom into your own private sanctuary.  By simply adding some candles, ultra-soft towels, and natural items from the Earth such as shells or river rocks you can turn your bathing experience into a calming ritual.

Meditate – 10 Minutes Each Day
Create your own meditation room or space.  Meditation can improve stress levels, concentration and overall well-being.  Close your eyes and focus on you’re your breathing, a mini-fountain or some soothing New Age music can also aid in the relaxation.  Don’t forget to tell the family not to interrupt you while you are in your “time out.”

Spend Time with Your Pet
Studies have shown that by spending a few minutes stroking your dog or cat can help to lower high blood pressure, decrease stress, and can instantly improve your mood.  Plus your pet gets the benefit of your un-divided attention and pampering!

Walking
Going for a brisk walk releases powerful endorphins from the brain, those neurotransmitters that help to create a feeling of well-being.  Exercise can also put you into a meditative state which will further aid in relaxation, and the fresh air will do wonders to lift your spirits.

Reading
Curling up with a good book is a great way to relax, not only will it help your mind escape, but it can also be educational too.
